The Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg found blogger Ruslan Sokolovsky guilty of inciting hostility and insulting the feelings of believers for catching Pokemon in an Orthodox church.

The court sentenced Sokolovsky to 3,5 years probation, although the prosecutor demanded that he be given the same term in a colony. Political scientist Nikita Isaev believes that the verdict will make Sokolovsky a fashion blogger who will write about politics on request.
“Well, Sokolovsky has a conditional one. Just like Navalny. And now he is our new fashion blogger. Not about politics, or about it, but according to a well-known order. He is not violent (like Navalny), he does not want to go to the zone,” Isaev wrote on his Facebook page.
While the verdict was still unknown, the political scientist spoke out against too harsh a punishment, because it could activate young people attending protests by opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
“A young representative of the contact generation, YouTube, all sorts of gadgets and devices, went proudly and publicly to dust himself off at church and received a demonstrative flogging from the state for confusing the place and the country. A hooligan, yes, but the real term in the zone is too much of a show of force for the “children of March 26th,” from which we will only accumulate their tension and will definitely turn this generation away from us. And we already have almost no other living generations. And we don’t give anything to this, and we also turn away from ourselves,” wrote Isaev.
