The Investigative Committee of Russia filed charges in absentia and put four Syrian terrorists involved in the death of pilot Roman Filipov in Idlib on the international wanted list.

“The Investigative Committee has identified four people involved in the death of Russian pilot Roman Filipov in the Syrian Arab Republic. These are natives of the province of Idlib, who are members of the terrorist organization Jabhat al-Nusra, banned in Russia.

Depending on the role and degree of participation of each, they were charged in absentia with participation in a terrorist organization, attempted murder and theft of firearms. The accused have been put on the international wanted list,” the press service said.

The department also named the names of the accused: Ibrahim Ramadan Al-Ahmad, Muhammad Ghazi Al-Aleywiya, Abdel Sattar Abdul Ghafur al-Syyah, Abdel Basyt Ibrahim Al-Hamud.

They are charged with Part 2 of Art. 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in the activities of an organization that, in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, is recognized as terrorist), Part 3 of Art. 30, pp. “b”, “g”, “l” part 2 tbsp. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder) and Part 1 of Art. 226 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft of firearms).

The Investigative Committee emphasized that it was possible to obtain the necessary information that made it possible to establish the circumstances of the death of Roman Filipov, as well as those involved in this, thanks to the active work of the investigative team from among the investigators and criminologists of the central office of the Investigative Committee in Syria in cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Defense and the competent authorities Syrian Arab Republic.

To do this, it was necessary to study satellite images and investigate the place of death, and interview a wide range of witnesses.

Investigators continue to identify other members of the terrorist organization and their accomplices related to the death of Roman Filipov.

Let us recall that on February 3, 2018, in the airspace of the Syrian Arab Republic, as a result of terrorist attacks from an anti-aircraft missile system, a Su-25SM aircraft flown by Roman Filipov was hit.

The pilot ejected and landed in an area located 1 km east of the village of Savamaa, Idlib province. After landing, Filipov, surrounded by the enemy, entered into battle with the terrorists.

Members of a terrorist organization, convinced of the death of a Russian serviceman, stole his APS pistol, protective helmet and oxygen mask. Roman Filipov was awarded the title of Hero of Russia posthumously.
