Russia decided to create its own Party of Regions
To extinguish the growing protest wave in Russia, it is necessary to create a party that will unite the regional elites.
Political scientist Maxim Zharov stated this at a round table in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We need to give the regional elites the opportunity, at a minimum, to speak out on the current agenda. I think that the issue of reviving some kind of party of regions is still on the agenda. And closer to the State Duma elections, it may become the only way to eliminate the protest wave,” Zharov said.
Presenter Dmitry Orlov warned his colleague against using the name of Viktor Yanukovych’s party, which was crushed in Ukraine.
“The Party of Regions is a dangerous brand. We have already observed it,” Orlov said.
