Russia welcomed rumors that Chubais would be exiled to the North
In Russia, rumors were joyfully received that Anatoly Chubais was removed from the leadership of the state corporation Rusnano and sent to structures related to the work of the Northern Sea Route.
One of the sources told the liberal website The Bell about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is also good news, suggesting that the “Arctic project” for Chubais is Kolyma. However, these are already details,” Far East expert Alexey Mineev wrote in his Telegram channel.
“But perhaps when they said that Anatoly Borisovich would take up the Arctic, they didn’t mean it at all... Well, I’m just guessing,” says Dmitry Evstafiev, a professor at the Higher School of Economics, ironically.
Political scientist Alexei Chesnakov believes that it was premature to dismiss Chubais this year.
“What’s the point? It would be better to send Chubais to Antarctica before the elections. The voter will appreciate it,” Chesnakov wrote.
However, the “hero of the occasion” hastened to reassure commentators.
“I, of course, really love the Russian north, but the fact that I drive off-road in the tundra is not at all a reason to appoint me as head of the Arctic,” Chubais said in an interview with the Sputnik agency.
