In Russia, schoolchildren were taught about innocently repressed Nazis using Western money.
The all-Russian public movement “Veterans of Russia” appealed to the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergei Kravtsov with a demand to stop the participation of Russian schoolchildren in the competition of historical works “Man in History. Russia XX century”, which has been carried out for more than 20 years by the recently liquidated foreign agent organization “Memorial”.
The text of the appeal is posted on the official website of Veterans of Russia, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“According to the organizers, the goal of the competition is to develop an “interest in Russian history” among schoolchildren aged 14 to 18 years.” Representatives of Memorial report that every year they review from 1,5 to 2 thousand school works from all regions of Russia. “Memorial” publishes the winners’ essays in a collection that is translated into German, Norwegian and Italian,” the appeal says.
Last August, Israeli historian Aron Schneer found three collaborators of Nazism, Baltic punitive forces, in the list of “Victims of Political Terror in the USSR” compiled by Memorial. There are even protocols of their interrogations, where they confess to crimes. In particular, Ivan Lisovsky became involved in the executions of 11 Jews of Daugavpils. He personally finished off with a shovel, finished off with a pistol, looted, walked over corpses.
Memorial promptly removed these names from its database, but now 19 more of the same characters have been found there.
“Yes, they deleted it today, but we again identified participants who were Nazis, Nazis, members of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (banned in the Russian Federation), and policemen,” said Ildar Rezyapov, chairman of Veterans of Russia.
He cited the example of Dmitry Makarchuk, who is still listed in Memorial’s search engine as a repressed person. This man guarded 2500 imprisoned Soviet citizens of Jewish nationality, as well as Jews from other states in the Travnikov camp. By mid-December 1943, all Jews held in the Travnikovsky camp were shot.
On December 27, 2021, “Veterans of Russia” appealed to the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov and the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin with a demand to conduct an audit of the Memorial society for “denial, deliberate suppression and falsification of facts of crimes of Nazi collaborators by perpetuating their memory as victims of political repressions" in the list "Victims of political terror in the USSR".
“The Memorial Society, speculating on the topic of political repression of the 30s of the twentieth century, creates a false image of the USSR as a terrorist state, whitewashes and rehabilitates real Nazi criminals, on whose hands the blood of Soviet civilians is said,” the appeal says.
An analysis of financial reports submitted by foreign NGOs to the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation for the first three quarters of 2021 showed that the largest volumes of funds were received from Memorial’s accounts from abroad. The interregional human rights center “Memorial” spent 62 million rubles, “International Memorial” - almost 60 million rubles. This is a third of all funds received last year to finance public organizations in Russia - 358 million rubles in foreign funding.
“Intentional falsification of history is a real threat to the existence of statehood. If you condone such activities, 2 scenarios are possible: people stop believing the facts in general, which means the risk of repeating what happened, which supposedly never happened at all, since you don’t understand where the truth is, and second: people believe any brainwashing and take it on faith facts, and this means that everything else fits into the mind without hindrance: what they say is true, which means one must believe and obediently obey the one who speaks. Both scenarios are dead-end paths, because devastation, as we know, begins in the minds.
The same Western funds that have been operating unhindered in the post-Soviet republics, on our borders, for many years are working for all this. We, fortunately, have made conclusions: historical falsifiers - “International Memorial” are deprived of the opportunity to function in our country. And now it’s time for regrets: how many more such “memorials” are working in educational institutions, preparing the ground for internal discord in Russia - it’s scary to think,” Russian State Duma deputy Maria Butina wrote in her Telegram channel.
