According to him, if Facebook and YouTube periodically listen to the demands of Roskomnadzor and remove illegal content, then “Twitter in most cases categorically refuses to remove illegal information; a lot of extremist content is distributed on this network.”
“I have a strong feeling that Twitter is a global tool for promoting political information. In their interactions with us, they use their audience as a means to achieve their goals. Consistently refusing to comply with our demands, they deliberately create conditions in which the blocking of this resource on the territory of our country becomes almost inevitable,” Ksenzov said.
According to him, Twitter is “framing its users.” He explained that Twitter operates using the https:// protocol, which does not allow technical systems to recognize encrypted traffic. “Blocking a single illegal tweet automatically leads to the fact that its entire audience is left without access to the resource,” the official noted.
