Let us remind you that on January 1, in Kyiv, while filming a story about a torchlight procession, Russian journalists were attacked. Unknown masked men attacked journalist Zhanna Karpenko and her cameraman, took her phone, after which they forcibly took and smashed the camera of cameraman Alexandra Ulyanova.
On January 2, Kiev police announced the arrest of a suspect in an attack on journalists. Cases were also opened under the articles “Obstruction of the legitimate professional activities of journalists” and “Robbery”.
“We are aware that law enforcement agencies of Ukraine have opened a criminal case regarding this fact. At the same time, we are well aware that the current Kyiv authorities, to put it mildly, sympathize with supporters of such events. It is unlikely that any of the attackers, much less the customers, will bear serious responsibility for these crimes,” Vladimir Markin, a representative of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, said in a statement.
