The number of drug addicts in Russia has decreased significantly
The situation with drug trafficking in Russia has improved significantly.
Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Igor Zubov stated this today in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In the Russian Federation, and this is recognized by the international community, the drug situation as a whole is improving. We have repeatedly reported this on various forums. The number of patients with acute forms of drug addiction is decreasing. We have put a very serious barrier in the way of Afghan drug trafficking,” Zubov said.
Today, the State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted in the first reading a bill that exempts physicians who unintentionally lose narcotic or psychotropic drugs from criminal liability. The document was prepared in pursuance of instructions from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the explanatory note to the document, in Russia from 2016 to June 2019, 79 criminal cases were initiated under the Criminal Code for violation of drug trafficking rules, of which 29 were against medical workers. Five of them were closed at the investigation stage, and 15 were sent to court.
