iPhone banned in Russian army

“The military registration and enlistment office employee forbade me from taking my iPhone with me, advising me to take a phone from another company. Phones from other manufacturers did not cause such a reaction,” one of the conscripts confirmed to the newspaper.
“The assumption that Apple is actively working for the US Department of Defense is well founded,” said Eldar Murtazin, a leading analyst at Mobile Research Group. Typically, encryption systems like the one Apple uses are provided to manufacturers working with the Pentagon.
Independent expert Mikhail Romanov says that iPhones are completely closed to research and have many more hidden functions than Android devices. “It is almost impossible for domestic developers to obtain a license and access to low-level functions that allow them to control something,” says Romanov. “Already in the 5th iPhone, the M7 processor appeared, which collects statistics on the movements of the device - such “chips” have not yet been noticed in Android smartphones.”
In addition to the fact that using the iPhone it is easy to determine the current geoposition of military units and their movements, there are developments that allow you to draw internal plans of premises, explains Romanov. “If a lot of people with an iPhone enter a room, theoretically it becomes possible to draw its internal layout with more or less accurate positioning,” he says.
In places where military units are deployed, it is necessary to create a special infrastructure that allows you to block cameras on phones at the level of the information security policy of the military unit, Murtazin believes.
