Deliveries of combat robots have begun to the Russian army
Automated command and control systems are beginning to be introduced into the Russian army.
Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
It is noted that earlier, with references to Israeli sources, it was reported that “the Russian military group in Syria began to actively use robotic technology and elements of network-centric (that is, integrated into an information network) types of combat operations.”
Referring to Israeli intelligence, the media wrote that Syrian troops are using the tactical developments of the Russian military and their equipment, including the latest prototypes of combat robots, reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), heavy artillery, as well as automated control systems (ACS).”
It was also indicated that the Andromeda-D automated control system in December 2015 “successfully operated in one of the foothills of Latakia.” According to the Israelis, the attack commander directed the battle in real time, and the combat robot operators, while in Moscow, saw their area of the battle and the whole picture.
The publication draws attention to the recent statement by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, who announced the widespread introduction of the Sozvezdie-2015 automated control system complex into the Russian army.
Sources in the military department report that in the Russian army, not only UAVs, but also combat robots, which are supplied to the troops, will be actively used in the TK automated control system.
According to the corresponding member of the Academy of Military Sciences, reserve colonel Eduard Rodyukov, we are talking about armored vehicles that have proven themselves in Syria, built on the basis of the Platform-M robotic complex, which should be supported from the air by reconnaissance drones and operate with fire support from self-propelled artillery units of the “Platform-M” type. Acacia" or "Carnation". It is also reported that, based on the Argo robotic platform, the Vikhr unmanned systems operating on the BMP-3 basis are being introduced into the troops.
“Armored vehicles on the Armata platform will begin to be supplied to the troops in 2021. It is suitable for use as combat robots. The war in Karabakh showed that armored vehicles are vulnerable to drones. If armored vehicles are used as robots, this will save the lives of many specialists,” says Rodyukov.
