In the Rostov region, the infrastructure has been prepared for issuing passports to residents of the LDPR
The Russian authorities intend to allow residents of the DPR and LPR to obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner.
Kommersant writes about this, citing its sources in Russian government agencies, noting that the issue has already been fully worked out and for its final solution only a corresponding decree of the President of Russia is needed.
One of the publication’s interlocutors said that Vladimir Putin will sign the decree immediately after the second round of presidential elections in Ukraine.
“What other options? People cannot go anywhere, there is a deadlock in the settlement,” another interlocutor emphasized in turn.
This information was confirmed by the head of the Duma Committee on CIS Affairs Leonid Kalashnikov, saying that “such a decree can be signed immediately after the elections.” At the same time, the politician made a reservation that “unless there is some kind of political expediency to see how the new Ukrainian president, if he appears there, will do or not do something in terms of resolving the situation in eastern Ukraine.”
It is clarified that the president acquired the right to decide which foreigners can quickly become Russians after the State Duma amended the federal law “On Citizenship of the Russian Federation.”
In addition, in March, high-ranking officials of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs - Deputy Ministers Alexander Gorovoy and Vitaly Shulika, as well as Valentina Kazakova - visited the Rostov region. On March 16, they opened in Rostov-on-Don a new building of the Directorate for Migration Issues of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Rostov Region. According to the publication, appropriate preparations were made in other settlements, in particular in the cities of Shakhty and Novoshakhtinsk.
