In the Rivne region, a bus with damaged brakes was purchased through the public procurement system to transport schoolchildren. Now the education department has appealed to the prosecutor’s office, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“In April 2017, the city council decided to allocate UAH 1 million 500 thousand to the education department for the purchase of its own vehicle. The chairman of the tender committee of the education department announced a procurement procedure on the ProZorro platform, which was successfully completed on June 12. The winner was the private enterprise “PTK “Dolphin”” from the city of Netishin,” the message says.
However, during the process of putting the new bus into operation, significant technical shortcomings were identified. The discrepancy between the technical characteristics of the purchased bus and the tender documentation was confirmed by materials from independent inspections, the City Council noted.
In particular, 15 technical deficiencies were identified in the purchased Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus. Among them are the maximum wear of the brake discs, diesel fuel and oil leaking out, neither the heating system nor the air conditioning system is working in the cabin, and much more.
The Education Department immediately turned to the private enterprise with a demand to replace the low-quality bus, and if the replacement was impossible, to return the funds. However, as noted in the City Council, the PTK Dolphin enterprise did not express a desire to fulfill its obligations, so the education department turned to the prosecutor's office with a request to defend the violated rights and interests of the state.
