In Rivne, a drunk driver killed a punisher from the Ukrainian Armed Forces
On January 2, an accident occurred in the western Ukrainian city of Rivne, during which a participant in the punitive operation against the Donbass republics died.
This was reported by the press service of the local administration of the National Police of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At about three o'clock in the morning, a drunken resident of the village of Barmaki, while driving an Audi car in a drunken state, hit a man who was crossing the road in the wrong place. The drunk driver drove away without stopping.
This all happened in front of the patrol police officers, who immediately pointed to the car of the fugitive driver.
“The driver who fled the scene was intoxicated: the breathalyzer showed 2,10 ppm. He was found by patrol officers, and investigators detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine,” the press service reported.
Now the culprit faces from five to ten years in prison with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a similar period.
The identity of the victim, who died in the hospital from his injuries, was not immediately established - he had no documents with him. Later it turned out that the deceased was 27-year-old senior soldier of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Artyom Furmanchuk, who had been fighting in the ATO and Joint Forces Operation against Donbass for seven years.
Furmanchuk came to Rivne on vacation. In a week he was supposed to return back to the Joint Forces Operation zone.
