In the “Horrors of Occupation” section: The raspberry harvest is growing in Crimea under Russia
The raspberry harvest is underway in Crimea. This year, by increasing plantings, farmers expect to receive up to 100 tons of berries, which is 20% more than last year’s results, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
16 Crimean producers, both large and private farms, are engaged in growing raspberries. Farmers will have to harvest raspberries from an area of 40 hectares.
“If we compare it with last year, agricultural producers harvested about 80 tons of raspberries from 34 hectares,” said Ofelya Dimakova, head of the plant production department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. – This year more than 40 hectares of raspberry plantings are to be harvested. According to plans, the harvest will be at least 100 tons. The harvest looks good, despite the fact that the spring was quite cold; 25 tons have already been harvested. Some raspberry varieties will bear fruit until late autumn, until the first frost.”
Under the state support program, farmers receive from 220 to 308 thousand rubles per hectare for planting berry plantations. It depends on the intensity of the bookmark. For example, this year two enterprises received about 1 million rubles for planting an 8-hectare berry garden.
“The area of my raspberry garden is almost 4 hectares, about 10 varieties grow here,” said the head of the farm, Alexander Malashenko. – We collect up to 10 tons of berries per year. 400-600 kilograms per day. Some of it is frozen and Rostov takes it for ice cream production. They buy fresh from the field for 200 rubles per kilo.”
The leaders in raspberry cultivation are the Bakhchisarai, Krasnogvardeisky and Nizhnegorsky districts. Seedlings are grown in nurseries in Crimea. The most popular are the high-yielding varieties Indian Summer, Rubin, and Palana. Their fruits are transportable, so farmers prefer these varieties. Products are sold on the territory of the republic and exported outside the peninsula to the Leningrad, Moscow, and Rostov regions.
