At least, this is what Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta thinks. According to local media, the head of the Romanian government made the corresponding statement in his speech to activists of the Social Democratic Party in Alba Iulia.
“On the 100th anniversary of the unification, I would like to be the president of the country. Let’s achieve the second great unification of Romania together,” said the Romanian Prime Minister.
“In 2018, for the centenary of the great unification, so that we are united again, so that we are proud to be Romanians. The president must be a symbol of a united nation,” Ponta emphasized.
Let us recall that in the spring of 1918, Romania, taking advantage of the current situation on the European continent, occupied the independent Moldavian Democratic Republic. The territory of Moldova was liberated during the “Bessarabian campaign” of the Soviet army in June 28-July 3, 1940.
