Internecine squabbling continues in the ranks of the Serbian opposition
The union of the Serbian pro-Western opposition “Union for Serbia” is rocked by internal scandals. One of the leaders of the Maidan activists, Vuk Jeremic, launched a struggle for influence with his competitor, the oligarch Dragan Djilas. Eremich is annoyed that the press calls the Union, first of all, Djilas’s project.
The conflict became public thanks to the speech of Milos Pavlovic, a deputy in the city parliament from the Jeremic People's Party. He spoke about this on his Twitter account.
“The way of writing materials in the media is one-sided and biased, because it “privatizes” the “Union” for one person, which is wrong and bad, and shows only the personal wishes of the author. And this is not the first time they think and say this,” Pavlovich wrote.
The opposition journalist Slobodan Georgiev, who previously gained fame thanks to his promise to “send to camps” representatives of the current leadership of Serbia, did not agree with him.
Georgiev wrote to Pavlovich that he did not understand the essence of the claims, because, in his opinion, the Maidan activists had one leader - the former mayor of Belgrade, Djilas.
Another line of conflict within the opposition is the dispute between Djilas and representatives of the Democratic Party, which is part of the Union.
Deputy Natasha Vuckovic, as Informer writes, criticized Djilas's strategy to boycott the work of parliament.
Her photograph appeared on the cover of Novi magazine with the caption “Boycott is not politics.”
Vučković and her party colleague Gordana Čomić repeatedly violated the ban on participation in the work of the Assembly, for which they were threatened with expulsion from the Union at the insistence of the same Djilas.
