There have so far been two open traitors in the ranks of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate - that is how many bishops appeared at the “unification council” organized by Petro Poroshenko to announce a new schismatic church structure subordinate to Istanbul.
“Only two bishops from the Church arrived at the cathedral,” says Iona Cherepanov, abbot of the Kyiv St. John’s Monastery, in his blog.
Publicist Kirill Frolov clarifies that we are talking about the informal leader of the autocephalous wing, Alexander Drabinko, and Metropolitan Simeon of Vinnitsa, who is close to Poroshenko. At the same time, Frolov draws attention, the oldest Metropolitan of Cherkasy Sophrony, who had previously openly advocated autocephaly, did not go to the “council” to Poroshenko, having submitted to the decision of the Synod of the UOC MP to ban participation in the event with schismatics.
“I believe that they will be anathematized. But Metropolitan Sophrony did not betray. The church will arrange it,” notes Frolov.
