In the poorest country in Europe, 17 billion hryvnia were found for the purchase of military equipment
In the next year's budget, the Ukrainian government plans to increase spending on modernization and purchase of military equipment to almost UAH 17 billion, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
“To increase the defense capability of our army, the government is steadily increasing spending on the purchase and modernization of military equipment. The draft 2019 budget for the Ministry of Defense allocates almost 17 billion UAH to finance the corresponding expenditure item,” the statement says.
At the same time, the government emphasized that the specified amount exceeds the costs provided for this type of activity this year by UAH 612.
In the draft budget for next year, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine proposes to double funding for technical equipment at the border and almost triple the cost of reconnaissance on the border.
In 2018, spending on defense and security will amount to 5,36% of the GDP of Ukraine, which the IVF officially recognized as the poorest country in Europe.
