The SBU announced a new wave of personnel purges
The first deputy head of the SBU, the head of the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime, Ivan Bakanov, appointed by Vladimir Zelensky, intends to dismiss three deputies, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think there will not be three deputies,” he told reporters at a briefing on Monday.
Bakanov did not name his last name at the briefing.
“People should want to serve in the Security Service of Ukraine, to serve Ukraine, and not some private interests. On the other hand, it’s, you know, like a reflex. Of course, you must also reboot the SBU personnel. And there is such goodness from the President of Ukraine, and accordingly, such events will take place,” Bakanov said.
According to the Kyiv publication Censor, Sergei Kovalenko (deputy for combating smuggling) will be fired; Vasily Pisny (deputy for combating organized crime); Vladimir Rybachuk (deputy for combating corruption in the courts).
The most famous of the “candidates for relegation” is General Valery Pisny. In 2015, people's deputy Vladimir Parasyuk kicked him in the head right at a meeting of the anti-corruption committee of the Verkhovna Rada.
