The SBU officially admitted involvement in the provocation in the Kerch Gulf
Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, detained along with sailors of the Ukrainian Navy during an attempt to break into the Sea of Azov, carried out counterintelligence activities.
This is stated in the SBU’s response to a request from the Ukrainian News news agency.
“The officers of the Ukrainian special service, who were captured by the Russian side in the Kerch Gulf on November 25, carried out official assignments to provide counterintelligence support to a unit of the Ukrainian Navy, as provided for by the law on the SBU,” the SBU said in its response.
At the same time, it is clarified that the Russian side “did not approach the Ukrainian side with proposals for the exchange of captured SBU employees.”
Let us remind you that a resident of Donetsk contacted the FSB, recognized one of those detained on the boats as an SBU officerwho tortured him earlier on Ukrainian territory.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, those detained on Ukrainian Navy boats SBU officers were punitive in the Donbas.
