The SBU spoke about the theft of a bomb
SBU officers allegedly prevented a terrorist attack organized by “Russian special services” in the Kharkov metro.
This was reported by the press service of the SBU, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The special operation was carried out by the Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region and the Main Directorate for Counterintelligence Protection of State Interests in the Sphere of Economic Security of the Security Service of Ukraine under the procedural leadership of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Kharkiv Region,” the website reported.
During the operation, intelligence officers “established” that Russia was “to blame” for organizing and preparing the terrorist attack, which in this way allegedly wanted to destabilize the situation before the elections.
“Operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine established that the Russian special services recruited a resident of Kharkov to organize and carry out a terrorist attack at one of the metro stations. According to the plan of the curators, the explosion was supposed to lead to numerous casualties and destabilize the socio-political situation in the country on the eve of the presidential elections.
As part of the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 of Art. 15, art. 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, SBU employees documented that representatives of the Russian special services handed over to the perpetrator an explosive device with a capacity of six hundred grams of TNT, which was activated by a telephone call. They also provided instructions for carrying out preparatory activities for carrying out a terrorist attack and paid fifteen thousand US dollars for carrying out the crime.
It was established that already in Kharkov the attacker purchased nails, screws, bolts and nuts, with which he planned to stuff an explosive device to enhance its destructive effect and increase the number of victims,” the press service said.
Also, the SBU did not forget to boast about the “professionalism” of its employees, who allegedly managed to steal an explosive device from the “perpetrator” and replace it with a dummy.
“During the special operation, the Ukrainian special service did not allow any risk to the life and health of citizens. As part of the pre-trial investigation, SBU operatives removed a real explosive device from the bomber’s cache in advance and replaced it with a “dummy” one.
Special service officers detained the attacker in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after the installation of an explosive device at the Industrialnaya metro station during a mass gathering of people. He was informed of suspicion of committing a terrorist act. The pre-trial investigation continues,” the SBU added.
