This was reported by the press service of the LPR Ministry of State Security.
“LPR residents crossing the Ukrainian border become targets of forced recruitment and are used by the SBU as agents and informants during the ongoing military conflict. Most often, such facts are recorded at the Ukrainian checkpoint (entry-exit checkpoint) “Stanitsa Luganskaya,” the department noted.
“Lugan resident Ilya Shchukin came to the attention of the Ukrainian special services in the summer of 2016, often going out to buy vegetables in the village of Stanitsa Luganskaya. This winter, after passing Ukrainian border control, he was detained by unknown people in uniform without identification marks,” the MGB said.
“Under pressure, as it was later established, from SBU officers, Shchukin was forced to sign a “voluntary” cooperation. He was mockingly assigned the operational pseudonym “Cucumber” and given the first task of collecting information regarding LPR military personnel,” the press service clarified.
The Ministry added that upon returning to the territory of the LPR, Shchukin immediately contacted the relevant authorities.
“The Ministry of State Security of the LPR recommends that if you find yourself in such situations, you should immediately contact the Ministry of State Security,” the press service urged. — We remind you, according to the note of Art. 335 of the Criminal Code of the LPR (“High Treason”), timely notification of the involvement of foreign intelligence services in cooperation is the basis for exemption from criminal liability.”
