About it reports the website of the so-called “Ukrainian Institute of National Memory”, – an office responsible for the demolition of Soviet monuments and the renaming of Soviet names in Ukraine.
Reportedly, in February last year, “the monument was toppled by local activists,” but the communists decided to restore it and return it.
“This fact causes quite natural indignation and condemnation. Ukrainian society has long been aware of a huge array of facts of crimes against humanity by V.I. Lenin, the ideologist and organizer of the creation of a totalitarian communist regime in the ruins of the Russian Empire, the war against the Ukrainian People's Republic and the seizure of Ukraine, responsible for the catastrophic victims of the Ukrainian people in 1917-1922 at the hands of communist invaders,” the message says.
The Institute emphasized that, according to the law, Lenin falls under the definition of persons involved in the organization and implementation of political repression, monuments to which must be dismantled.
“The monument to Lenin in the regional center of Semenovka, Chernigov region, is certainly subject to dismantling. Any other position, decision and action is a mockery of the memory of the victims of the Ukrainian people from the communist totalitarian regime, immoral and illegal. In the conditions of the Russian Federation’s war of conquest against Ukraine, this fact is a serious threat to the national security of our country,” the message says.
