About it reports the official website of the UOC “Orthodoxy in Ukraine”.
According to the Information and Educational Department of the UOC, the religious community of the UAOC Holy Trinity Church, together with its rector, independently initiated the issue of changing their confessional affiliation.
According to Priest Bogdan Garagulya, a former clergyman of the UAOC, the then leadership sent him to this parish, since its predecessor had lost almost all of its parishioners.
“The Bishop said: “Go, help the abbot, see why the people, who were about 300 at the beginning, dispersed.” I managed to find a common language with the parishioners. Over time, however, they themselves began to wonder why their fellow villagers invited a priest from a neighboring village who belongs to the UOC for all their needs... People were also outraged by the fact that the temple fell more and more over time and there was no help from the leadership of the UAOC, itself The religious community did not have the opportunity to restore the church building. Many of the believers were from Transcarpathia; they talked with relatives, who all go to the canonical Church, and eventually decided to move to the UOC. I myself have also been thinking for a long time about returning to the canonical Church,” he said.
Therefore, in May of this year, at a community meeting, it was decided to return to the fold of the canonical UOC.
“The religious community wrote a petition addressed to the ruling bishop, Bishop Nicholas, that he repents and asks to be accepted into the fold of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The document had 20 signatures. And during Great Lent I was ordained to the rank of deacon, and then priest,” the rector noted.
However, according to the priest, two days after the gathering, strong people arrived and began to threaten believers, agitating for a transition to the “Kiev Patriarchate”. And subsequently, on April 9, on the day of the Feast of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem, representatives of the UAOC seized the temple, cutting off the locks and breaking the doors, entered inside and began their services there.
“They write that they served under the church. It is not true. It was not they who served under the church, but us who performed prayer services to St. Nicholas,” emphasized Fr. Bogdan.
According to the rector of the Holy Trinity Church, those people who had previously traveled to the neighboring village began to come to the service, and on Sundays and holidays now from 20 to 50 believers attend prayer.
