Russian-Serbian tactical flight exercises “BARS-2021” started in Serbia
Today, within the framework of the Brotherhood of Aviators of Russia and Serbia (BARS), joint exercises of the air forces of the two countries began on Serbian territory.
The event, which involves dozens of military vehicles - airplanes and helicopters, will last until October 16, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Russian-Serbian exercises are taking place at the bases of the military airfields “Batainica” and “Ladzhevtsi”, as well as at the “Posulyanska Livada” training ground. The maneuvers involve MIG-29 combat aircraft, air defense systems, and also, for the first time, Mi-35 helicopters.
“As part of the exercise, joint Russian-Serbian crews on MiG-29 fighters will practice combat maneuvering and air combat as a pair and performing attacks on low-speed targets,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement. “The Mi-8 and Mi-35 helicopters will be used to practice landing and evacuation, complex aerobatics, combat use and other tasks... Before the start of the exercises, Russian pilots were trained in aviation terminology and phraseology of radio communication in the Serbian language.”
In general, the joint Russian-Serbian flight-tactical exercise “BARS” has been held annually since 2015, alternately on Serbian and Russian territories.
In parallel with the summit for the 60th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement, the anniversary 10th International Fair of Arms and Military Equipment “Partner 2021” opened on the territory of the Belgrade Fair, within the framework of which Serbia and Azerbaijan signed an agreement on military-technical cooperation.
The fair, which will last until October 14, features more than 70 pieces of heavy weapons and military equipment produced in Serbia: artillery and missile systems, aviation, defense systems, modernized combat vehicles, new armored vehicles, drones, anti-tank systems, telecommunication fire control systems, all-terrain vehicles , as well as various types of guided and unguided missiles. In addition, the exhibition also presents military equipment from Russia, China, the USA, and France.
