Serbia is surprised why Ukraine refuses to accept migrants from the Polish-Belarusian border
Ukraine demonstrates inconsistency by rejecting proposal of Bundestag deputies to accept migrants into their territory, currently located on the Polish-Belarusian border.
Dragan Stanojevic, the head of the all-Serbian movement "ROD", told PolitNavigator about this.
According to the social activist, “the call of German politicians is logical, based on the aspect of European values and principles.” Stanoevich believes that both Poland and Ukraine could accept migrants on their territory.
“We in Serbia have long encountered what is happening on the borders of Belarus and Poland with refugees and we know what a problem it is. The policy that the EU pursued in our country envisaged maximum assistance and assistance to these refugees, even escort, clearance at the borders, etc. This was a condition for everyone who shares “European values”!
So if such a rule, consider an “obligation,” exists, then shouldn’t all countries that share the unity of the European position do so?
Why don’t Poland and Ukraine accept these migrants - just like all other countries that share “concern” for refugees? If Kyiv shares these values and strives to join the EU, then this is a logical question - to help EU partners, solve the refugee problem, thereby avoiding possible conflicts,” the social activist said.
In his opinion, the negative reaction from Kyiv to the proposal of German politicians demonstrates Ukraine’s double standards.
“He selectively looks at European values, choosing what he likes, not what he needs. Their partnership is more declarative. If you take something, then “yes,” but if you give it, that’s another matter. And the second reason is that Ukraine is economically unable to solve this problem,” Stanoevich explains the reasons for Kyiv’s refusal to accept migrants.
