The monument to the hero will be three meters high with a pedestal, surrounded by benches and trees, while the figure of the “general” will be presented in his signature recognizable field uniform, and a wolf will stand next to him as a symbol of resistance.
“10 years have passed since his death, a lot of time, and yet we remembered our Veljko. We were told that Kujundzhich’s song “General, General” would be performed at the ceremony, which describes the heroism of my husband,” the warrior’s widow Slavica Radenovich, without hiding her emotions, shared her impressions of the upcoming event.
Veljko Radenovich was born in Djakovica, Kosovo, then lived in other cities of the region - Pec and Vucitrn. He went to war in 1998, being a diabetic, with insulin in his pocket.
After Serbian forces left Kosovo, he led a special police unit in southern Kuršumlija, near the administrative border with his native occupied region.
He retired as assistant commander of the gendarmerie detachment in Kraljevo, the uniform of which his son Vukasin proudly wears today.
He was distinguished by his courage and cheerful disposition. They say that during the operation to Kosovo, after returning to the Prizren headquarters, someone reported to Radenovich that he had two holes in his hat, and when he examined the headdress, he saw two obvious marks from a sniper rifle.
