Video footage of attack on Merkel leaked online
An attempt to attack Angela Merkel, the newly elected Chancellor of Germany, was caught on camera, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
A video of the incident was published publicly available on the YouTube channel.
As can be seen in the footage, Merkel leaves the Bundestag building, where her re-election to the post of Chancellor of Germany took place, and heads to her car, accompanied by security. At the moment when Merkel approaches the car, an unknown young man tries to break through to her, but the personal security officers and the police did not allow him to attack Angela Merkel and quickly threw him onto the asphalt.
During the arrest, the young man continues to shout phrases in a foreign language at Merkel, and after he was neutralized and the car with Merkel calmly drove away, the young man was lifted and taken to the Bundestag building to further clarify the circumstances of the incident. The video shows that the young man is very pleased with what he did and smiles. At this time, nothing is known about the identity of the attacker.
