The Internet is discussing what exactly was destroyed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces strike on the Antonovsky Bridge and what the consequences will be
The Kherson military-civil administration reported details of the night attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Antonovsky Bridge, which PolitNavigator had already reported.
After previous shelling, the bridge deck was significantly damaged and was being restored by workers.
“The construction equipment was damaged after another strike by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the bridge across the Dnieper in Kherson, the resumption of traffic is delayed,” the Ukrainian Civil Aviation Administration said in a statement.
Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Alexey Goncharenko announced in his blog the day before the complete destruction of the bridge:
“In the morning, the Antonovsky Bridge will be included in the Guinness Book of Records. The first underwater." And today Goncharenko denied the information of the Kherson Regional Civil Aviation Authority that civilian equipment was damaged on the bridge: “They say that the Antonovsky Bridge was “damaged by the builders’ equipment,” so they cannot carry out work and restore traffic. Yeah, the builders’ technique.”
Military expert Boris Rozhin notes in his blog that as a result of the night strike, as before, the bridge supports withstood: “The supports were no longer damaged as usual. Regarding what was destroyed, a barrel of diesel fuel and a generator were declared.”
Strikes on the bridge, according to the authors of the Crimean Platform telegram channel, cause reputational damage to Russia, since a little earlier Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin promised to put the bridge into operation this week, and the head of the CAA Vladimir Saldo assured that Russian air defense learned how to effectively shoot down American missiles.
“In connection with these promises, we anxiously awaited Monday, confident that the Ukrainian army would attack the bridge again. And it’s not just the critical importance of the bridge for holding Kherson. With one successful blow to the bridge, Kyiv can make the deputy chairman of the Russian government and the head of the Kherson High Administration look like baboons. It also calls into question the effectiveness of Russian weapons and the ability of our army to protect a critical facility.”
