In a matter of days, the Internet raised money for a house for the family of blogger and former novice of the Ionian Monastery Dionysus Petrov, who was forced to leave Ukraine after the victory of Euromaidan.

About the history of Petrov PolitNavigator wrote the day before. His unusual name is explained by the fact that Dionysus is from the Gagauz, a Turkic people professing Orthodoxy. During Euromaidan, Petrov wrote a popular blog where he described the crimes of the coup participants. When Euromaidan won, local “activists” gave the family with the Muscovite surname Petrovs 24 hours to leave the “Ukrainian land”, otherwise they threatened to burn them down along with the house.
The family with three small children moved throughout Russia in subsequent years (Crimea, Siberia, Lipetsk region).
Already being participants in the “Compatriot” state resettlement program, having received a temporary residence permit, the Petrovs came across a wall of callousness: everyone refused to rent out housing as soon as they heard about a large family and lack of registration.
According to Russian law, you must live where you are registered, otherwise there will be very large fines. If the Petrovs had not resolved the issue within a week or two, their temporary residence permit could have been revoked.
The solution was to buy a house in one of the villages near Lipetsk. However, the Petrov family did not have enough money even for the most modest housing. Then Dionysus published a call for help online. He was supported by the famous journalist Andrei Babitsky.
And here’s the result: a few days later, the required 300 thousand rubles were collected.
“I have great news for you. We, or rather, you bought a house for Dionisy Petrov and his family. Well, that is, I don’t know whether the deal has already been finalized, but the parties have finally shaken hands,” Babitsky said today.
“If you remember, he asked for 250 thousand, based on the prices in the advertisements. When I went to look at the options, it turned out that for this money it was impossible to buy anything suitable for living. As a result, he found a house for 300 thousand, which, of course, will seem unsightly to many, but Dionysus says that it (the house) has wonderful prospects. Firstly, it was built to last, although it was pretty dilapidated. The garden overlooks the river, the house has electricity and gas, water is indeed on the street, but I think it will be possible to bring it inside someday.. The living area is small - only 40 square meters, but for a former monastic novice, a car mechanic, who knows how to work with his hands , a carpenter - it’s easier to say what skills and abilities he does not have - this is not a problem at all. In the summer, he plans to increase the area of the house by two or three times due to extensions.
Just yesterday, the required amount was 50 thousand short, but this morning even a little more was received,” the journalist clarified.
