This opinion was expressed on the air of Wired Radio of Sevastopol by the head of the Sevastopol Health Department, Yuri Voskanyan.

According to him, the patient went to private clinics only because he had nowhere else to go.

“The patient should not suffer from the fact that private medical business is flourishing in our country. He must receive adequate medical care regardless of whether there are private clinics or not. The situation that preceded entry into the Russian Federation, when the state system was destroyed and the patient had no choice, he had to go and pay for what he was entitled to for free - this is not normal,” the official said.

Yuri Voskanyan also noted that for 23 years, private clinics have occupied all state medical premises, which has created a situation in which state institutions do not even have anywhere to store medicines.

“Therefore, proposals have been made to private medical structures to leave the public health care system and open their offices in other, non-medical institutions. Just look at how savage the situation is getting: the only pulmonology department in the city, located in the second hospital, is being moved to an anti-tuberculosis dispensary, where there are 63 bacilli that are resistant to all types of treatment. And they are there to this day. And on this site there is a private medical center “Bonus”. Is this right? Of course not,” Voskanyan stated, but at the same time noted that private clinics retain the right to participate in the compulsory health insurance system.

According to him, in a year and a half, the level of public medicine in Sevastopol will be such that private owners simply will not survive in the competition.

“Imagine, in a year and a half, the entire state system will be equipped no worse, but a thousand times better, than private medical centers today. And they will simply lose patients, because they will have to compete for the patient in the future. All public hospitals will have modern computer tomographs, ultrasounds, and highly qualified personnel. Major current repairs will be carried out. In 3-4 years, completely new hospitals will be put into operation: both multidisciplinary adults and an oncology clinic. And try to attract the patient from there,” predicts Yuri Voskanyan.
