The official housing of Ukrainian military personnel is being inventoried in Sevastopol
Sevastopol, December 08 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Kononov) - Housing for military personnel allocated by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will undergo an inventory process, after which a final decision will be made on it: to retire it or keep it as official.

Sevastopol Governor Sergei Menyailo stated this at a briefing on Monday. According to him, this issue is “a little pressing,” since it requires a prompt solution, but is dragging on due to the fact that the city administration does not have the right to unilaterally make final decisions. As a rule, official housing is on the balance sheet of some department.
“We cannot simply take over and distribute housing on our own, because this is the housing stock of the relevant ministries. Therefore, there is joint work with the fleet command, for example, and I don’t see any problems here. The most important thing is that the navy or other departments decide on a list of housing that needs to be released from service or that needs to remain in service,” the official explained.
“We are taking an inventory of those apartments in which military personnel lived who are not currently serving in the military. Why? There is information that some of these apartments, which were once allocated for military personnel by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, have been abandoned, i.e. the relevant military personnel left. It’s clear where they went. Secondly, there are attempts to sell or resell them. That’s why we are taking inventory,” Menyailo said.
At the same time, according to him, on the basis of agreements reached with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the Black Sea Fleet, a special decision will be made in relation to those military personnel who have retired or been transferred to the reserve, but live in the territory of Sevastopol.
“A separate decision will be made on them, on these apartments. Either the Ministry of Defense will provide them with housing in other constituent entities of the Russian Federation at the place of their chosen residence, or there will be a corresponding appeal from the Ministry of Defense to the executive authority with a request to consider them,” the governor explained.
According to him, this way the issue with the Ministry of Emergency Situations has already been resolved.
“The Ministry of Emergency Situations asked us to dispose of the housing they had. We reviewed it as a commission. Those apartments in which pensioners live - we gave them the opportunity to decommission them so that in the future they could privatize them. Those where active military personnel actually live, that is, the provision for housing.
That is, the process, on the one hand, is not entirely simple, and on the other hand, it is not entirely dependent on us. Because in accordance with the laws of the Russian Federation, if housing was purchased or built at the expense of the relevant ministry, the Ministry of Defense or some structures that provide for military service, then it is official and departmental,” said the head of the city.
