The rector of Sevastopol State University Valery Koshkin, who initiated this action, told reporters about this on Tuesday. According to him, he has already received confirmation from the director of the International Space School, which is located in Baikonur, Dmitry Shatov.
“He confirmed that a strong team that won the world championships will come here,” Koshkin said, noting that this is not a one-time project and cooperation in this direction will continue. The purpose of the action is “to familiarize Sevastopol schoolchildren with how these missiles work.”
“These are standard rockets that many schoolchildren make in Baikonur. They fly high, several hundred meters. The missiles are safe and can be launched in any region,” Koshkin said.
At the same time, according to him, it is difficult to name the exact time, since it will have to be integrated into the city’s program of festive events, and the missile launch site will most likely be Holland Bay, where the former National Institute of Nuclear Industry and Energy, which is part of the Sevastopol State University, is located.
