In Sevastopol, pine trees will be massively cut down at the construction site of a new hospital
3543 Red Book pines will be cut down in Sevastopol during the construction of an emergency hospital and an oncology clinic, provided for by the Federal Target Program (FTP) for the development of Crimea.
Chairman of the Sevastopol Society for Nature Conservation Valentin Shestak stated this on the YouTube channel “Kombat TV”.
“Without coming to the territory, without fitting it into the landscape, they simply stupidly set it up as it would be more profitable and better through utility networks, and demanded that Rosprirodnadzor demolish the trees. This is an environmental disaster. We have the largest Victory Park, so consider that they are demolishing 7 such parks,” Shestak said.
He believes that the construction of new hospitals will negatively affect the patients of the nearby tuberculosis clinic and nursing home.
“Pine phytoncides help cope with tubercle bacilli and protect the immunity of older people. This unique area is planted around a tuberculosis dispensary. It turns out that the federal target program is being implemented at their expense,” Shestak said.
