As the publication notes, “by returning the leader of all times and peoples to the Sevastopol pedestal, we will pay tribute to the man who has done a lot for our city.” At the same time, first of all, Stalin’s enormous contribution to the restoration of Sevastopol from the ruins of the Great Patriotic War is noted.
According to the leader of the Sevastopol communists Vasily Parkhomenko, “Stalin did a lot for our city - according to his decision, a resolution was adopted to restore Sevastopol as soon as possible.”
The issue of restoring the monument to Soviet leader Joseph Stalin on the station square, dismantled in 1956, was repeatedly raised by the Communist Party of Ukraine. Sevastopol communists hope that they will have a better chance of success in Russia.
