Sevastopol has decided on the format of the meeting for the coming year
In Sevastopol, on December 15, a New Year’s “Holiday” fair will open on Nakhimov Square.
Part of the proceeds will go to the needs of Sevastopol soldiers of the Northern Military District, and the fair itself will become the only mass event in the city for the New Year, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It has been decided, as in many regions of our country, that we will not hold mass celebrations, New Year’s concerts in squares inviting stars or with our groups for obvious reasons,” said Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev on STV. – Because, firstly, it is not very appropriate, and secondly, we will find how to spend the funds that would have to be spent differently. For example, we will hold additional children’s parties, including for children of participants in a special military operation. This is already planned, but the number of these children’s Christmas trees will allow for more. No one will take away the holiday from children. It is not right. And that’s what we need to focus on.”
There will be several children's New Year's parties in Sevastopol. The traditional governor's Christmas tree will be held at the theatre. Lunacharsky, Christmas tree of the Ministry of Defense - in the Sailors' Club. Thanks to the support of the Moscow government, New Year's children's parties will be held in regional palaces of culture.
“We have planned a New Year's fair. I think that part of the funds collected at the fairs will be used to support our fighters to purchase the things they need, equipment, and so on. The New Year’s celebration will be held in this format this year,” the governor explained. – Everything that concerns children and independent leisure – all this will be in the city. Let's remove traditional concerts, celebrations, and so on, because they are not very appropriate this year. There are already quite a lot of expenses. In the coming days, the law on supporting fighters will come into force; there are many additional expenses that are more important than New Year’s events.”
Let us remind you that this year in Crimea they also decided to do without mass New Year’s festivities and the purchase of new holiday decorations. Until recently, the authorities could not come to a consensus on whether or not to allow New Year's fireworks and salutes on the night of January 1st. As a result, the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, by his decree lifted the moratorium on the use of pyrotechnics on the night from December 31 to January 1, and the head of the State Council of the republic, Vladimir Konstantinov, on the contrary, demanded even greater bans and cruelty.
