On Monday, the first stage of the substation, whose capacity is 25 MW, was put into operation. In the future, it will be increased to 80 MW, which, according to the Chairman of the Board of PJSC Sevastopolenergo Igor Duravkin, will relieve the load on the networks and will allow the Gagarinsky district of the city to develop its infrastructure, “to build enterprises, residential buildings and all socially significant and industrial facilities for the city of Sevastopol".
The station is not a generating station, but only distributes and supplies electricity.
“But thanks to this facility, the city can continue further development, connect new loads, build, develop and live. Our blackouts occur due to limited electricity supply and insufficient generating capacity in Crimea, so blackouts can only be prevented by introducing new generating capacity,” explained Igor Duravkin.
Construction of the substation began in 2011 with funds from PJSC Sevastopolenergo. The total cost of the substation was 610 million rubles.
