Sevastopol, September 01 (PolitNavigator, Olga Nikolaeva) - A cadet school was opened in Sevastopol, which was built near Victory Park at a record pace - in 4 months.
On September 1, 360 cadets of grades 5,6, 7 and 40 and 11 students of grade 840 from the former Sevastopol Lyceum of the Ukrainian Navy began training at the school. After construction is completed, the school will have XNUMX cadets.
Let us remind you that on August 18, at the construction site of the facility, 2 workers were killed and 8 were hospitalized due to the collapse of the roof of the assembly hall. Despite the words of the workers about the emergency pace of construction and the statements of social activists about violations of building codes, on the opening day the new building did not seem dilapidated outwardly.

The ceremony was attended by the Presidential Envoy to the KFO Oleg Belaventsev, acting. Governor of Sevastopol Admiral Sergei Menyailo, Black Sea Fleet commander Admiral Alexander Vitko, director of the school Rear Admiral Vitaly Mikhailov.
“You cadets have a special status and a great credit of trust. You are just starting to learn, and Rossi believes in you. You have chosen the path of a warrior, a defender of the Motherland, and your path is worthy of respect,” Menyailo addressed the cadets, noting that Sevastopol is becoming the main training base for officers and the center for the education of sailors.
Belaventsev read a welcoming speech from President Vladimir Putin, and Vitko from Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
Vitko presented the director of the cadet school with a battle flag, and the cadets were congratulated by People's Artist Lyudmila Chursina.
The reconstruction of the Black Sea Fleet after the entry of Crimea into Russia began precisely with the cadet school, Vitko emphasized.
“We will support the issue of creating not just a presidential cadet corps, but a presidential naval cadet school,” he said.
“We will come up with a proposal to dress the guys in a naval uniform; they should feel the important attributes of a naval sailor: a vest, a cap, and a guy,” said Presidential Envoy Belaventsev.
The distinguished guests toured the classrooms, dormitories, dining room, etc.
In the electronic shooting range, three career military men - Vitko, Mikhailov and Menyailo - competed in pistol shooting. The governor of the city of Menyailo scored the most points.
On March 20, 2014, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the creation of a comprehensive presidential cadet school in Sevastopol.
The cadet school is located on an area of 16 hectares on the shore of Streletskaya Bay in the Shield Wall area.
The construction of the first stage of the school was carried out by Oboronstroy, using standard designs of the Ministry of Defense, making adjustments for seismicity of 8-9 points. The main academic building, parade ground, canteen, three dormitories, and sports facilities were built.
At the second stage, it is planned to build 4 more dormitory buildings, a sports complex with an ice skating rink and a swimming pool with an area of more than 5 thousand square meters, a boat station and the development of the coastline.
