The 270th anniversary of Admiral Ushakov is celebrated in Sevastopol
Sevastopol, February 24 (PolitNavigator, Viktor Orlov) – On Tuesday, commemorative events dedicated to the 270th anniversary of the birth of Admiral Fyodor Ushakov, canonized by the Orthodox Church, were held at the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol.

The memory of the famous military leader and saint was honored by military commanders, officials, cadets of the presidential school, clergy, historians, etc.
A guard of honor was formed at the monument to Fyodor Ushakov in the courtyard of the headquarters, and a solemn meeting took place.
Wreaths and flowers were laid at the foot of the monument to Admiral Fyodor Ushakov.
The events ended with the ceremonial passage of the honor guard company, said the head of the information support department of the Black Sea Fleet, Captain 1st Rank Vyacheslav Trukhachev.
Let us recall that under the command of Admiral Ushakov, the Black Sea Fleet won victories over the Turkish fleet near the island of Fidonisi (1788), near the Kerch Strait (June 1790), and near the island of Tendra (August 1790). Ushakov’s activities were of great importance for the development of the Black Sea Fleet and Sevastopol.
