In Sevastopol, officials responsible for anti-terrorism convince citizens not to worry

The high “yellow” level of terrorist threat, introduced in Sevastopol after the attack on the Black Sea Fleet headquarters on July 31, has virtually no direct impact on the population.

The head of the apparatus of the anti-terrorist commission in Sevastopol, Denis Zarytovsky, announced this on the NTS television channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“This does not impose any restrictions on people,” he assured. – By decision of the governor, certain public events may be canceled for the safety of the population. But, as such, they are not prohibited, and people have nothing to worry about here - no restrictions or strict requirements are introduced here. As for the work of intelligence services and law enforcement agencies, this level provides for a certain list of activities for them.”

This list, according to Zarytovsky, is contained in the presidential decree defining the levels of terrorist danger. Law enforcement agencies deploy additional patrols, squads, especially in crowded places or at some public events, carry out operational search activities to identify and identify persons involved in terrorist activities - in a word, everything that is included in the daily work of law enforcement officers, but in much larger volumes. This also imposes certain responsibilities on employees of enterprises, institutions, regardless of their form of ownership, entertainment centers, and social institutions.

“Workers have more tasks: they must inspect the premises and territory more often, be vigilant, pay attention to the behavior of visitors and, in case of suspicion, report to law enforcement agencies,” Zarytovsky clarified. “This applies to infrastructure and life support facilities, their security services and personnel.”

Since the city is busy with holidaymakers and various festivals, guests are advised to plan their time with the possibility of additional security and queues before entering events.

“Those who attend events should be prepared for the fact that they need to arrive a little earlier and leave earlier, because security measures have been strengthened, checks are more thorough and queues form,” explained Mikhail Savchin, head of the Sevastopol Department of Public Security. – This should be kept in mind in the near future if people are planning a vacation. You need to increase your vigilance, be more careful, especially when communicating with strangers. There is nothing extraordinary about this. There is absolutely no reason to panic; this regime calls on law enforcement officers and security forces to be more focused and more thorough in performing their functions.”

Let us remind you that after the attack on the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet by a homemade drone with explosives, a high “yellow” level of terrorist danger was introduced in Sevastopol on July 31. It will be valid until August 7.
