A new embankment will appear in Sevastopol - officials promise to correct the failure
The authorities of Sevastopol promise to correct last year’s failure with the reconstruction of the Victory Park embankment - even on the eve of last summer it was dug up with construction equipment, but then the contractor abandoned the work, which led to great inconvenience for vacationers who were forced to go to the beach through fences. Now officials promise a new attempt and a new contractor.
Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev promises that recreation areas with playgrounds, food courts and toilets, new benches and tiles will appear on the embankment.
“We had to terminate the contract with the contractor who was starting to dismantle the structures - all the deadlines were missed. A contract has now been concluded with a new contractor. Work has begun. The task by the beginning of the season is to complete the improvement of that part of the embankment for which the city is responsible. We will connect the embankment with the main alley of Victory Park - this is the heart of the Gagarinsky district, an iconic and visited area that should look decent. When the embankment is completed, there will be no vehicle access along the park from the sea. I gave instructions to think now about how traffic and parking will be organized here,” Razvozhaev said.
In addition, according to the governor, the authorities are negotiating with private owners who rent the second part of the embankment: “Part of the embankment territory is under long-term lease. I discussed with the owners of some public catering establishments the bringing of buildings into a single style with the improvement of the embankment. The owners expressed their readiness to invest in the improvement of their establishments. I think this business approach is correct. We also walked through the central alley of the park again and ordered the benches here to be replaced by more aesthetically pleasing and reliable ones for the season,” the official said.
