Rostislav Gromov, director of the State Unitary Enterprise Sevtelecom, reported this to the governor of Sevastopol on Tuesday.
“At the moment, there is a risk for a significant part of the population, enterprises and organizations of the city to remain without communications - both local and long-distance. We are talking about subscribers of the Vega operator. There are about 20 thousand users in Sevastopol. At your direction, a technical solution was previously prepared to prevent communication interruptions. This morning we finalized this plan and ask for your decision on its implementation,” Gromov said.
At the same time, he said that currently both local and long-distance communications have been lost in Crimea, whereas, according to him, thanks to earlier measures taken by the leadership of Sevastopol back in September, nothing like this happened in the city.
Sevastopol Governor Sergei Menyailo supported the initiative of Sevtelecom and asked to quickly take control of the management of servicing Vega subscribers.
“Let’s put this plan into effect so that the residents of Sevastopol do not suffer. Contact our colleagues from Crimea. If there is a need to provide them with assistance and assistance in restoring communication, take all measures to ensure that this assistance is provided. Including the provision of valid subscriber numbers that we have in reserve. “Vega” needs to be taken under operational control so that there are no interruptions in communications,” Menyailo said.
Let us recall that on September 24, PJSC Ukrtelecom, owned by the Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, stopped providing communication services in Sevastopol, but attempted to remotely disable the equipment, attempts of which were stopped by the local company Sevtelecom. At the same time, SUE Sevtelecom supports the operation of fixed-line communications in the city.
The Vega company, also owned by Akhmetov, has repeatedly stated that it continues to provide communication services in accordance with current legislation.
