Sevastopol, July 27 (Navigator, Olga Nikolaeva) – The largest naval parade in recent years took place in Sevastopol on Sunday on the occasion of Russian Navy Day.
This time, the restrictions on the use of aviation and missile firing, introduced by Ukraine several years ago, were no longer in effect. Therefore, the event regained its spectacle.

“We are celebrating this holiday on our Russian soil for the first time in the last 23 years. Everything fell into place. Crimea is Russian, Sevastopol is Russian, and the Black Sea Fleet in Crimea and the Caucasus is at home. We don’t look at anyone now and feel like we are on our native shores,” said the commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Alexander Vitko.
Although, it should be admitted, old equipment still took part in the parade - the only new combat unit in the ranks was the Russian FSB ship "Rubin" transferred to Crimea, which is part of the naval units of the Novorossiysk border troops.
Admiral Vitko once again promised that the Russian Black Sea Fleet will receive about 20 new ships and submarines, as well as modern weapons by 2020.
The commander noted that new ships are starting to arrive this year, and “over the next three years we will be fully equipped with new equipment.”
“In addition to ships, new weapons will also arrive. A very modern weapon, in some respects the best in the world. We have begun construction of airfield bases. We have already received coastal missile systems, new aircraft have already arrived,” Vitko added.
There were no VIP guests from the capital in Sevastopol today - officials went to the Northern Fleet together with Vladimir Putin. But on the Sevastopol podium for especially important guests, the former Minister of Defense of Ukraine Pavel Lebedev and the ex-commander of the Ukrainian Navy Maksimov were seen.
