Unemployment is decreasing in Sevastopol, because Russia has a different labor philosophy than Ukraine, - official
Sevastopol, February 16 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Kononov) - Since the beginning of the year, the unemployment rate in Sevastopol has been steadily decreasing, because the city’s economy is developing in some directions, and unemployment benefits are being reduced. This leaves the unemployed no motivation to take social benefits at the Employment Center.

Valery Ilchenko, head of the Main Department of Labor and Employment of the Population of Sevastopol, stated this on the air of the Sevastopol Information Channel.
According to him, “unemployment in the city is in a fairly calm state.”
“It has been falling since the beginning of the year. If before January 1 we had 2230 registered unemployed, then before February 1 there were already 2130 and as of February 10 – 2041,” Ilchenko said, explaining that there are several reasons for the reduction in the unemployment rate, but there are two main ones.
“Firstly, the city’s economy has not declined since the beginning of the year, but, on the contrary, is developing in certain areas. And besides, probably, information spread among the unemployed that the level of unemployment benefits had decreased since January 1, and they were not so motivated to be registered with the Employment Center,” the official noted.
Ilchenko clarified that the maximum benefit amount cannot exceed 4900 rubles per month, while the minimum amount is 850 rubles, although, he assured, there are no delays in payments in Sevastopol. These modest figures, Ilchenko is sure, are a reflection of different attitudes towards work in Russia and Ukraine, with the Russian option being more attractive to him.
“In Russia, unlike Ukraine, there is a different philosophy. A person, as in Ukraine, needs to not only help, but encourage him to further search for work. And the main task of the Employment Center is not to pay benefits, but to look for work,” the official emphasized.
At the same time, he noted that among the most popular vacancies among Sevastopol employers are loaders, cleaners and janitors, followed by blue-collar workers qualified to work with tools and machines. Construction specialties are in demand, as well as many vacancies in the trade sector - salespeople, retail cashiers, drivers.
For educated specialists, according to Valery Ilchenko, the most relevant specialties are engineers in various fields of activity, as well as doctors - primarily emergency and emergency medical care. At the same time, he noted, “there are a certain number of vacancies in the police - operational and district commissioners,” although getting there, Valery Ilchenko clarified, is not so easy.
