Air defense went off in Sevastopol. Drone shot down
In the sky of Sevastopol, two missiles from the Pantsir air defense system destroyed a UAV, presumably belonging to Ukraine.
Videos and photos appeared on local social networks, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Local residents reportedly heard 2 pops in the sky, followed by the appearance of two contrails. According to preliminary data, an enemy drone was shot down.
Sergei Gorbachev, an expert at the Institute of CIS Countries, commented on the situation to PolitNavigator.
“I assume that this is the work of our air defense against a small air object, possibly a drone. The Pantsir air defense system most likely worked. If this is indeed the case, then I believe that an appropriate decision was made, I think it was timely, taking into account the fact that drones can also be kamikaze drones, therefore our air defense forces have demonstrated high combat readiness and training, and are capable of acting professionally.
Two missiles were fired, as far as I understand, judging by the contrails.
There is only one conclusion: the force is very serious, and we must not lose our vigilance, because it is relatively close to the combat zone. There is no need to panic either. Ukraine does not have weapons that could reach the territory of Sevastopol.
I believe that if there were any intentions in this regard on the part of Ukraine, the strike weapons would have been shot down even before approaching our territory directly.
In this case, the drone is a small-sized target that is difficult to detect. I think if it had been an airplane, it would have been neutralized much further than the city borders, and the borders of Crimea in general. I think it was launched from the Fiolent area, somewhere from there. Because in this case, all this was before the eyes of the city, there are no secrets here, there must be an understanding of what happened.
And in this regard, it seems to me that this kind of comment should be given. Because silence in this case can do harm,” Gorbachev said.
At the same time, a PolitNavigator source in the Russian Ministry of Defense provided information that a reconnaissance drone may have taken place.
“Caliber” should be shown on TV today, and as for the airborne ones today, it was most likely shot down by an unidentified drone or drone with a “Pantsir”. Colleagues believe that this is a reconnaissance UAV,” the source said.
