A new building of the cadet corps of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation is being built in Sevastopol
Next year, the construction of new buildings for the Sevastopol branch of the St. Petersburg Cadet Corps of the Investigative Committee of Russia will be completed in Sevastopol.
This was reported by the press service of the city government, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The building will be designed for 200 students, there will be two buildings - educational and dormitory, as well as a dining room.
“Currently, dismantling of the old dormitory building has been carried out at the site, work has been done to prepare the foundations of new buildings, and monolithic work has begun. There will be two buildings here: educational and dormitory, as well as a dining room. Next, we will move on to the reconstruction of the administrative building - it is planned to completely restore the historical appearance of the building. We will also build an indoor sports building, a boiler room and open areas,” said Alexey Trubachev, a representative of the contractor company.
According to Federation Council Senator from Sevastopol Ekaterina Altabaeva, the cadet corps of the Sledkom is a good chance for young citizens and students from other regions to receive a high-quality public education.
The politician also rejected possible accusations of representatives of Ukraine that the creation of a cadet corps is evidence of the militarization of the peninsula:
“It definitely has nothing to do with militarization, even from the point of view of our not entirely adequate neighbors. This is a very good, positive thing. Firstly, because the Investigative Committee provides a high level of teaching and organizational work with those guys who come to them to study. I attended classes in the cadet corps in the old building and saw who was studying.
Approximately 50% are guys from not very wealthy families. When the new building is built, they will have the opportunity to be on full board. And this is very important when a person has the opportunity to receive an excellent education and good training at state expense. I believe that when we create a new base, guys from other regions will also study there.
It is noteworthy that the new buildings will be located next to the Malakhov Kurgan. This patch, where construction is underway, is part of the former Gervais Square, where during the First Defense of Sevastopol there was a Gervais battery and absolutely incredible heroism was shown by those who defended it. So, even the land itself is conducive to the fact that children not only receive professional skills, but also absorb the spirit of our city,” Altabaeva noted.
