In Sevastopol, the governor may change in the spring
The configuration of executive power in Sevastopol may change in the spring of 2019. Russian Senator from Sevastopol Olga Timofeeva stated this on the ForpostTV YouTube channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think it is pointless to give a forecast regarding the elections to the city Legislative Assembly, because the configuration of the executive power may change by the end of March. I admit this possibility. Then the forecasts that we draw now will be meaningless, because a lot will change,” Timofeeva said.
She said that she sees at least two worthy candidates for the post of governor of Sevastopol “at the federal level.”
“A team must come for which Sevastopol will not be a place to make money, not a way to spend budgets, but a beloved city for which they will be ready to bear full responsibility. I know at least two people at the federal level that I would like to see as governor. These are people who can pull out the situation,” Timofeeva said.
If Dmitry Ovsyannikov remains as governor and brings deputies convenient for himself to the city Legislative Assembly, this is fraught with an increase in social tension for Sevastopol, the senator believes.
“Let us assume that, hypothetically, the government that exists remains, with the clans that have built up around it, with the Legislative Assembly, which will be formed by our lobbyists-developers from convenient people. The government is once again mobilizing military personnel for the elections. United Russia will again use the authority of the president. Then we will get a Legislative Assembly that will broadcast to the top a picture of love and harmony between the branches of government, and for the city this will be traumatic,” Timofeeva said.
