“Due to the high probability of fires, the governor’s decree introduced a high-alert regime for the command and control forces and assets in the Sevastopol city territorial system. There is a ban on citizens visiting forests, entering the forest on vehicles, making fires, burning solid household waste, garbage on forest lands and land plots adjacent to agricultural lands,” Sadofyev said.
As explained by Vice-Governor Alexander Reshetnikov, on June 26, a large forest fire in the area of the village of Fruktovoye was extinguished in Sevastopol. A helicopter from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 32 units of equipment and 133 rescuers were involved in its liquidation. Fire brigades of the Russian Black Sea Fleet and the territorial subsystem of the RSChS were involved in the extinguishing efforts. The fire affected about 4 hectares of forest. According to preliminary information, the most likely cause of the fire was an unextinguished cigarette butt at a public transport stop.
Deputy Governor of Sevastopol Alexey Eremeev instructed all government departments to sort out the mistakes made during the fire extinguishment in order to prevent them from happening in the future.
