In Sevastopol, for three years they failed to clean up the territory of the former Stalingrad market
In Sevastopol, three years after the demolition of the Stalingrad Market, the authorities were still unable to improve the public space in its place. Spontaneous trade still flourishes here, and homeless people often spend the night in the remaining stalls.
Retail outlets were dismantled under Governor Dmitry Ovsyannikov in the fall of 2018 - the process was accompanied by cutting down green spaces that are especially valuable for Sevastopol.
This happened despite the protests of entrepreneurs who feared that the initiative to demolish the market could be driven by the interest of other merchants seeking to build permanent stores in a busy place.
These fears were not confirmed - perhaps because Ovsyannikov left the governor's chair. And the team of the new head of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, demonstrates indifference to the territory of the former Stalingrad market - it has been turned into an unkempt wasteland, where there is active brisk trade during the day, and in the evenings there are boxes of products lying around.
