Sevastopol, December 05 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Kononov) - The decision of the Sevastopol Health Department to reorganize the Solnyshko children's psychoneurological sanatorium is tantamount to closing the institution.

The parents of children undergoing treatment there are confident of this, writes the Sevastopolskaya Pravda newspaper.

According to the publication, with reference to the head of the department of medical problems of motherhood and childhood of the Sevastopol Health Department Natalya Vishnevetskaya, from January 1, 2015, the children's psychoneurological sanatorium "Solnyshko", the pulmonological sanatorium "Teremok" and the Children's Home will be merged into one institution - the "Center for Medical Rehabilitation of Children and specialized children's home. The official is confident that no one will get hurt.

“The “Center for Medical Rehabilitation” will have a department for the appropriate psychoneurological profile, and children who have indications can receive help in accordance with compulsory health insurance. This will be an exclusively medical institution without a kindergarten,” explained the city’s chief curator of motherhood and childhood.

According to the newspaper, it is not entirely clear what the clarification “without a kindergarten” means, since young children constantly need care and communication close to their home environment. And for children with neuropsychiatric disorders, this is especially important, because medicine should not only focus on treating diseases, but primarily focus on disease prevention.

At the same time, the publication notes, despite plausible justifications for “reorganization,” the process of destroying “Solnyshok” has already begun.

“Not all employees of the sanatorium have a place in the new Center. Some were even asked to look for work in other institutions,” writes Sevastopolskaya Pravda.

The mother of seven-year-old Maya Olga Anatolyevna says: “My daughter has been undergoing treatment in this sanatorium for four years now, which has helped her a lot. The symptoms of the neurotic disease disappeared. This year she started school and feels good. I am very grateful to the doctors and staff of the sanatorium. All parents of children undergoing treatment at Solnyshok are against its closure.”

Irina Omelchenko from the village of Solnechny told the publication that she “was in shock” when she learned that Solnyshko was being closed. She has a difficult five-year-old son with developmental delays, who is in a XNUMX-hour care group.
“I don’t know what to do next. There are wonderful staff here, excellent teachers and doctors. My son will have none of this at his place of residence. Therefore, we are protesting against the closure of the children’s psychoneurological sanatorium.”

According to Sevastopolskaya Pravda, “all the parents and children with whom we were able to communicate have a negative attitude towards the management’s idea of closing Solnyshok.” During the reorganization, the building and property of the medical institution are transferred to the “Center for the Development of Disabled Persons” (“City Center for Children’s Rehabilitation”), but the profile of the sanatorium is not preserved.
The planned consultation room and outpatient clinic will work only with disabled children. Therefore, parents, in their collective appeal, express their categorical protest against the closure of Solnyshok.

“We, parents, will lose the opportunity to treat our children. We will lose all children with borderline conditions, with neurological and psychiatric pathologies, and we will lose the opportunity for early detection and treatment of many neurological diseases. The consultation room will provide services for disabled people from 5 to 18 years old, but the building is completely unsuitable for wheelchair users. The outpatient clinic assumes that children come with their parents to specialists for 2-3 hours. Consequently, only non-working parents will be able to accompany their children,” the newspaper quotes alarmed Sevastpol residents.

Let us remind you that the Solnyshko sanatorium was created in 1974 as a medical institution for the rehabilitation and treatment of children with diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system, as well as with psycho-emotional disorders. This is the only such institution not only in Sevastopol, but also in Crimea.

“Solnyshko” provides sanatorium treatment for Sevastopol children aged 2 to 7 years using state budget (free) vouchers. The sanatorium mainly accepts children from large and low-income families and boarding schools. Children from remote areas of Sevastopol receive treatment here: the villages of Kacha, Solnechnoye, Orlinoe, Lyubimovka and others. The course of treatment is from 21 days to three months, depending on the severity of the disease.
